CNN —Megalodons, the huge prehistoric sharks depicted in movies such as “The Meg,” had more slender bodies than was previously thought, according to a new study. Many mysteries remain about the biology of megalodons, but until now, great white sharks had been used to model their appearance. The dark grey silhouette depicts the previously reconstructed body form, based on the great white shark. Kenshu Shimada/DePaul UniversityThis new research is based on the reappraisal of an incomplete set of fossil vertebrae found in Belgium. The research suggests that “the modern great white shark may not necessarily serve as a good modern analog for assessing at least certain aspects” of megalodon biology, said Shimada.

ESTERO, Fla. (AP) — If one was to break down Florida Gulf Coast’s scoring so far this season by position, this would be the mathematics:— 0% from guards. The Eagles have 16 players on their roster, and every one of them is listed at the same position: shooter. Some may seem like guards, some may have post moves like forwards or centers, but the Eagles just classify everyone the same way. There have been seven instances in Division I women's basketball history where a team finished a season with at least 393 made 3's. “And then we were like, ‘We’ll just put shooter.’ Most of our kids are really good shooters and for other kids, it’s aspirational.

The Chinese property sector’s worsening debt crisis poses a significant challenge for President Xi Jinping and his policy makers, with the country’s economy already reeling from weaker domestic and overseas demand. China’s State Council Information Office, which handles media queries on behalf of the government, declined to comment on the property market and Evergrande’s fate. He sold the first complex the following year for 80 million yuan, according to Evergrande’s website. The committee investigated the matter after banks seized 13.4 billion yuan ($1.84 billion)of deposits held by the property-services unit in 2021.

Scientists previously theorized that megalodons were warm-blooded, but the new study is the first to provide concrete evidence to that effect. From this finding, they deduced the megalodon’s average body temperature was about 27 C (80 F). Like modern great white and mako sharks, megalodons were regionally endothermic, which means they had the ability to regulate temperature in certain parts of the body, according to the study. The timing of megalodons’ extinction coincides with the cooling of the Earth’s temperature, the researchers said. But learning more about the ancient shark could still help scientists better understand the threats similar marine animals face today.

HBO's hit show "Succession" airs its series finale Sunday night, with Waystar Royco's future in the balance. It captures the spirit of boardroom drama, but takes some liberties with corporate law, experts said. On HBO's hit show "Succession," the beats of a proxy fight are sometimes just as intense as a scheming betrayal from a once loyal lackey. Over four seasons, the show has laid out a thesis about the all-encompassing gravitational force of Logan Roy, the media mogul behind the fictional news and entertainment conglomerate Waystar Royco. "But the failure of the board to engage in any succession planning at all, is a first thing to note," she said.
He was sad to see Strus go, but he also knew that Strus was ready for his next challenge. “And who’s to say if he would be where he is today if he didn’t make that move?” Trost said. On Wednesday night, seven years after he transferred to DePaul and nearly four years after he matriculated to the N.B.A. But perhaps the oddest part about his unlikely presence was that it was not odd at all — at least not for the Heat, who have a league-high nine undrafted players on their 17-man roster. On Wednesday, three of those players — Strus, Gabe Vincent and Caleb Martin — scored 15 points each while combining to shoot 16 of 27 from the field.

Year-to-date the S&P 500 is down 17% as the Fed tightens policy to rein in inflation. Bierman is the chief market technician at TheoTrade, and held the same position at TD Ameritrade between 2007-2015. The Fed has been tightening policy this year at the fastest pace in decades in an effort to cool the highest inflation rates since the early 1980s. The second problem is that the US economy is already in a recession, Bierman says. But the number one indicator for Bierman that the US economy is in recession is the yield curve.
